About this project

This joint project entitled “The Analysis of the Canon Formation of Japanese-produced Classical Chinese prose and poetry and the Depiction of its overall history, for use in a Global Research Environment” is being conducted as part of the overarching project “Construction of the International Collaborative Network on Japanese Classical Books”, organized by the National Institute of Japanese Literature (NIJL).

The following two points will be considered in the course of this project.

1. The analysis of when and how a canon was formed from the Japanese-produced Classical Chinese prose and poetry. Through this analysis, the contexts of research and appreciation of Japanese-written Classical Chinese prose and poetry will be made clear.

2. The depiction of an overall history of Japanese-produced Classical Chinese prose and poetry from ancient to modern times, using the latest research results. This new history is intended to promote research worldwide.

Our project would benefit from the cooperation of researchers from related fields.  Should you be interested or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
